Zone
System

Our three-zone economic system ensures fair contributions based on regional economic conditions, so every NjangiBase person can participate regardless of where they live.

Why We Use Zones

Our diaspora spans over 45 countries with vastly different economic conditions. A flat contribution rate would either exclude members in lower-income regions or underutilize the capacity of those in wealthier countries. The zone system creates equity while maintaining solidarity.

Campaign Targets by Zone

Campaign target amounts vary by zone to reflect regional economic conditions. When a member needs support, the target is based on their chapter's zone.

How Contributions Work

Pro-Rata Calculation

When a campaign is approved, the target amount is divided among eligible chapters based on:

  • The campaign's scope (country-only or network-wide)
  • The chapter's zone rate (100%, 50%, or 25%)
  • The number of active members in each chapter

Example: Country-Scoped Campaign

EUR 5,000 Death campaign scoped to Germany only (same zone, no weighting):

EUR 5,000 ÷ 400 members = EUR 12.50 per member

  • • Chapter Berlin (200 × EUR 12.50): EUR 2,500
  • • Chapter Munich (120 × EUR 12.50): EUR 1,500
  • • Chapter Hamburg (80 × EUR 12.50): EUR 1,000

*Only chapters in the beneficiary's country share the obligation.

Example: Cross-Zone Campaign

EUR 5,000 campaign across 500 members in 3 zones:

Weighted total: (200×100%) + (150×50%) + (150×25%) = 312.5 → EUR 16 per weighted member

  • • Zone A (200 members × 100%): EUR 16/member → EUR 3,200
  • • Zone B (150 members × 50%): EUR 8/member → EUR 1,200
  • • Zone C (150 members × 25%): EUR 4/member → EUR 600

*Zone rates ensure fairness across different economic regions.
